Hello
I knew something was amiss when I was having severe night sweats and went from 1 hour brisk walks to barely getting out of bed not to mention the skin tags and weird black lines appearing on my neck
My HbA1c came back at 42
I have put on a stone and am 58kg now
So I did low carb for a couple of weeks and got the most awful headaches
Then I reintroduced healthy carbs but headache still not shifting
I was so worried it was high blood sugar causing the headaches I had a test at the pharmacy- the finger prick after eating was 6.6 which, I was told, was fine.
Anyway I have completely stopped cakes fruit biscuits fried food but I feel like I need a slice of gluten free bread or a wrap with one meal or I don't feel full
Has anyone managed to reduce their blood sugar by not doing keto
I also try to exercise or walk for at least ten min after eating
Thanks

Try to be more active (even if you don't feel like it) as this uses up glucose stores. Wholemeal options for bread and pasta rather than white as they are slower release (reduces the glucose spike). Careful with the fruit as they contain natural sugars.

Being diabetic/pre-diabetic isn't always about weight - it's about how well your pancreas can produce insulin after food.

Thank you to everyone who has posted
It's all great advice and has helped a lot
I feel way more optimistic and am incorporating the steps especially the extra salads and exercise after eating
I must say the gorgeous weather is helping with going out for walks
I am not bothered about losing weight tho I am soft around my middle I just want these symptoms to go away

Reduce carbs portion. Increase veg portion. Reduce snacks. Leave 4 hours between meals. Lots of water.i went gluten free and that helped as I was limiting the flour based foods I was eating. I need to do this again as I was in remission and then got pregnant and 4 years later after letting my diet lifestyle slip in back diabetic again.

Yes I was trying to lose weight before I discovered I was prediabetic but now the focus is on health and reducing symptoms

How much weight do you have to lose @Cantwait4weightloss ?

Cantwait4weightloss · 26/09/2025 08:05

@Doyouship
I was 55kg this time last year and recently gone up to 62kg
Been told by my rheumatologist to lose weight to help my knees as they are both bad
Anyway just wanted to say I have been implementing the Glucose lady's tips
So a bit of acv in water before a main meal, salad before anything and I even have pudding after a meal and this morning I am down to 56kg.
I also do a Lucy Wyndham-Read seven minute lower your blood sugar level workout after eating
I don't feel like I am depriving myself, still eating crisps tho not as many as before and I feel better overall
I also made a fake quiche for breakfast which is really filling and tasty
Put a low carb wrap in a shallow cake tin and foil pressed over it as I don't have baking beans
Bake for ten min then add milk, egg, cream cheese, spring onion, peppers, tomato, whatever you have and sprinkle cheese on top and bake for 15 min til its all risen.
