Blood test help

My DS14 has had some episodes of dizziness, sudden cripling fatigue, unusually sensitive feet with very poor circulation for a while now.

The doctor advised us to make an appointment for a blood test which we did, she then called us the next day and said the appointment is too far away and she organised us one for first thing tomorrow.

At no point has she mentioned it should be a fasting blood test and the appointment she made was for 10:30. But since people have been asking me if it fasting or not and now I'm concerned I dont know and we may do the wrong thing for the test to be accurate.

Are diabetes blood tests usually fasting or not? I've googled and am no further forward.

I imagine they are doing a HBA1C which isn’t fasting.
They generally specify if a blood test needs to be fasted for tbh

Thank you, that was my thinking but I was a bit doubtful as DH spoke to the Doctor and he can be a bit useless at recalling information combined with the Doctor apparently being quire hard to understand.

I will assume its not fasting but maybe mention to the nurse that is what we have assumed.

No, you never need to fast for diabetes tests.

I had a blood test for cholesterol, but I later found out they'd taken extra and tested for HBA1C as well. I'd previously asked if I needed to fast and was told 'no' Appointment was at mid-day, so think it'd have been earlier if a mistake had been made and I'd been expected to fast.
