I've seen the Rybelsus threads in the weightless chat, just wondering if any diabetics are using it, and how you're finding it?
At my annual review today I've been prescribed this, I understand how it works, just wondering if it's been successful in lowering blood sugar in some diabetic Mumsnetters :)?

I’m type 2 and taking it. Did one month at 3mg, one month at 7mg and now nearly finished my first month at 14mg. I’ve got a repeat HbA1C for the end of May so will have had 3 months at a therapeutic dose.

I am using it because there are no injectables available. IME it’s not as effective as Liraglutide or Trulicity and makes me really nauseous. I’ve asked my nurse to switch me to Mounjaro.

Thanks @Banana34 @Pavlov123
I've been on Metfoemin & Gliclazide for a while, but they're not working as well as they did..
I know some if the injectables have been unavailable for a while :(
I've read about the nausea, hopefully I'll be able to tolerate the Rybelsus, and it will help :)

I've been on 14 tablets for 5 months now, side effects have reduced and occasionally get nausea but manageable. I am finding the cravings have switched off finally and blood sugars are well undercontrol now.

@Tereseta ...thats good to know :)
I'm on Day 6 of the 3mg. Not had any side effects, but haven't noticed a change in my appetite either yet. It's early days, so plenty of time for that to change :)

It took a couple of months for the appetite to lessen. I have had bouts of sickness on it on the early days but I'm now eating healthier and it seems to have passed. My GP strongly advised drinking a lot of water while on this to avoid dehydration.

Type 2 here. 👋

Started on 3mg for a month and I'm now half way through my 2nd month of 7mg.
No side effects at all.
Lost half a stone and I have my bloods review due in a couple of weeks.

This med Rybelsus is awesome. It has helped me bring my A1C down to 5.1 from a high of 9.7. I first started with the 3mg and am now on the 14mg. Been on this med since March and while I did experience some nausea and mild upset stomach it went away after about a week. It has also helped me lose 50lbs as well. I also take with metformin. I should be the poster child for this drug...even though I'm 50 - https://euhealth24.com/drug/rybelsus

My HbA1C has gone from 56 to 43 and I’ve lost 18lb so far. Diabetic nurse is very happy.

Hi, anyone on Rybelsus for T2 Diabetes but also need to lose weight , I need to shift 5stone ? I have multiple autoimmune disease - PBC, Srogrens, UA Thyroid, Fibro , and Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency so weight loss of any kind has been incredibly difficult ! Currently on Day 7 of 3mg Px by my diabetic nurse x

DumbledoresWand · 08/10/2024 07:59

@Anteater1969 .... I had about 2stone to lose when I started Rybelsus... I was fine on the 3mg, but when I moved up to 5mg the side effects became intolerable - I lost days at work with vomiting, constantly feeling sick.
Went back to my Diabetes Team, and I'm now on Mounjaro. I've lost 21lb so far, and the side effects have been a lot more manageable
