10 year old son advice please

My son has been going for a wee a lot lately so off we trotted to the docs. As it was an early morning appointment he hadn't had breakfast and his glucose level was 6.5. Not high but as it was basically a fasting level the doctor has asked us to monitor over the next 24 hours and return readings tomorrow. Is his glucose likely to be too high after meals etc?
Thanks

I don’t think anyone can really answer this for you. If he has diabetes then yes, most probably, if he doesn’t then it probably won’t be which is why the Dr is asking you to monitor.

Hopefully if it is diabetes it sounds like it will be caught early.

Thanks. I know it's probably a daft question to have asked😅. Just had a quiet flap in the kitchen when we got home from the docs lol. Just need to monitor and see.

Good luck. I know it’s worrying but you are doing a great job by noticing potential signs and flagging them.

What's his number after he had breakfast? Can't tell just by a single reading.

7.5 now at 10:30. So I'm thinking that's fine. Will continue checks during the day

After eating everyone’s BG levels rise. The important reading is 2 hours after food, in a non diabetic it should have returned back to normal level which is between between 4-7. Morning fasting readings can sometimes be a little misleading. The body can dump glucose as you wake up to give you the energy you need to get up and start your day. Hope you get some answers for your son soon

Thank you. He was 7.2, 8.1 and 8.5 (1.5-2 hours after meals) yesterday. Handed these back to the doc today.
