Is my mother being selfish?

My mother has type 2 diabetes, she got diagnosed with this about 1 year ago.
I understand how hard it might be to cut sweets, chocolate and sugary things out I get it we all have cravings. But she will sit and eat a bag of haribos in one sitting, numerous amounts of chocolate cars at a time and unhealthy foods I always try and tell her she needs to eat less sugar stuff
Do you think she is being selfish for not caring about her health?

She sounds depressed and self destructive

What do you mean by "selfish"? Do you mean gluttonous, weak-willed, or that she should care more about you being unhappy than about her desire to scoff the sweets?

I'm not sure selfish is the word you are looking for.

Is she on any medication? Does she attend any medical monitoring? Is she struggling to deal with the diagnosis, doesn't understand or just defying it?

It's certainly self destructive to continue to eat this way with diabetes, she is eating her way to potential blindness and amputation.

Not selfish; foolish yes, addicted to sugar, for sure. Does she understand the ramifications of continuing to eat that way?

I dont think she's being selfish, it's really hard to overhaul your diet etc. In the end of the day she's an adult and can do as she pleases.
