Neuropathy

Hi, does anyone know if diabetic neuropathy can begin and progress out of absolute nowhere overnight? Or is the cause likely something else? Thanks so much

Are they on metformin?
Only asking as I read an interesting article about diabetics on metformin which has caused B12 deficiency which can also cause similar (reversible) symptoms.

Have they had high readings?
