Has anyone started on the Omnipod 5/Dex 6 closed loop yet?

Just interested to hear whether this is going to the be game-changer I am really, really hoping it is.

I have to say it did annoy me royally on the media when they kept referring to it as an artificial pancreas - like you could just get on with life and forget you had Type 1.

Sorry, following as a t1. I am very excited that closed loop will something that I can be on in the near future. The technology has become so much better in the last 25 years. Having DM has become so much easier.

Not omnipod 5 but now recently looping using Loop app and it's life changing. O5 not available in my county yet and not expected soon so I've felt no option but to go down the DIY route.

@Creepyrosemary - sorry what is DM? I know it’s going to be blindingly obvious when you tell me.

@lissy0506 - has it made a difference in the day as well as the nights?

The best bits have been a significant reduction in lows and much much better overnights. Days are a bit hit and miss but I think that's because I'm still tweaking the settings. I'm really hopeful though, it's awesome to see the algorithm in action doing its thing and removing some of the decisions I'd otherwise be thinking about.

DM is Diabetes Mellitus. “Diabetes” is just a short way of saying that.

Medtronic Closed loop didn't work for me because the algorithm was too conservative, but I've been assured it's got better over the last few years.

We are due to have our training next week. I'm slightly terrified. Hopeful but nervous.
