Told the Victoza will stop...

Had my diabetes' review yesterday
Call from nurse today. Good chance the victoza I've been in since October, which is working, will be stopped due to a stock shortage.
Disgusted that because it's not a regulated drug in this country people are buying it online purely for weight loss, leaving those of us using it for diabetes to have to go without
When I Google, you can buy it for around £289 for 4 weeks worth

Yep. Many patients are having it stopped and being changed to other medications.

The nhs isn’t paying enough and the companies get get more money flogging it privately.

The 2nd? Doesn't go anywhere

They will find you a replacement drug.

Unfortunately not.
Victoza was the original GLP1 agonist that we went back to when the newer weekly versions were in short supply. The whole class of drugs including the oral version is now at critical stock levels.
As a diabetes team we have been told not to start new patients on them and not to chop and change patients from one brand to another.
It will be well into 2024 before stock levels return to normal.

I've just been put on this by my GP. Unfortunately appears to be out of stock everywhere so I haven't actually been able to get any.
Assuming it worked well for you, Op? Was injecting it ok?

I've lost 4 stone

However, my blood sugars went from 83 to 63 then back to 71... I'm struggling with a B12 issue and may have hit the energy drinks

I'm being prescribed and SLGT2, a tablet that makes me per put the sugar apparently, so I have a fallback when they stop the victoza

Four stone is amazing, well done.
I think I'm going to have to speak to the GP about getting an alternative.

I don't think there is one... ozempic is the main and already impossible to get

I wonder if SLGT2 might be an option for me then.
I just had some blood tests and it seems my diabetes is well controlled by metformin at the moment but I'm really would like to lose some weight and curb both my big appetite in general, and in particular my sweet tooth.

I’m on Forxiga which is a SLGT2 inhibitor. It’s working well for me and my sugars have dropped considerably. It has a number of positive side effects.

Hope it works for you.

@FoundNeverland thanks

Got a bit freaked out by possible side effects earlier!
