Diagnosed 3 months ago at 87 bloods. Metformin and fairly strict low carbing has lowered level to 68 . Had a phone consult with diabetes nurse yesterday and have now also been prescribed Jardiance.
Has anyone taken this ? It appears it may cause me to "wee" more - not sure that this is possible !! Feels like I live on the loo already .
Hopefully it will also assist with weight loss. I only need to lose another 7 lbs but losing 4lbs in last 3 months has been tortuous !!

I've been in this for about 2 years along with metformin.
I've lost about 3 stone in that time so it's worked for that. The downside is that I get frequent UTI's so you would need to look at the pros and cons.

And yes, I pee a lot!

I took it for two years and came off it after repeated thrush and horrible fungal infections down below.
My skin looked like it had been burned.
GP said it was well known for its side effects.
I just take 2000mg of merformin now.

I've been on it a couple of years, no UTIs, did have thrush when I had eaten a lot of sugary crap. If I keep my diet sensible, it's fine. I don't think I go to the loo more, either.

Do you usually get side effects from meds? If you're usually okay, you probably will be this time, but there is only one way you will find out how it works for you.

Familiarise yourself with the side effects, including symptoms of dka.

Many Thanks everyone for your responses. Will have to wait and see won't I . Hope I'll be lucky. Side effects on paperwork ( in common with most medicines) appear to range from a slight sniffle to death !!

Had a new development this afternoon - have been given a glucose monitor . Wow it looks complicated. Have found some good information on Diabetes UK but think it will take me a while to master - especially at 04.00 when I have to test.

Anyway - thanks again . I still can't quite believe that I'm on this section of the forum !!

Most of the glucose meter manufacturers have good tutorials on their websites on using their meters, so it might be worth having a look on their website.
