Has any one had this?

My DH suddenly started seeing double and blurred. Seems his right eye doesn't track all the way to the side when he looks right. Its causing his brain to use his other eye more which we know has a cataract in it.

We went to the optician and she diagnosed the above. The main causes (in order of commonality are)

  1. Trauma
  2. Diabetes/hypertension
  3. Stroke
  4. Virus/bacteria
  5. Brain Tumour
  6. MS

1 and 3 are rules out.

No he does have poorly controlled diabetes and due to covid hasn't been seen by his GP for a couple of years. His retinopathy checks have all be clear and they are now.

So we are working on the "if you hear hoofbeats think horses not zebras" and the assumption is its his diabetes.

He has an appointment with the diabetic nurse on the 30th and has to ring his GP on the morning of the 28th for a doctors appointment on the day. We're away in another UK country at the moment with his family and the general advice was that there was no point rushing home as not a lot will happen before the 28th due to Christmas.

He is so down and depressed as he's not allowed to drive.

I'm just wondering if anyone here as experienced anything related to this.

I'm also going to post on the general health board as well just for full disclosure.
