HbA1c levels

I’ve had some blood tests done recently as I’m tired all time. Everything came back normal apart from my HbA1c level which was 50.

I’ve got to have a repeat blood test in two weeks. That’s not good is it? I’m on sertraline which I’ve seen can increase levels too?

It is only just into Diabetic range so in theory you could reduce it below by diet and exercise. Some medications and illness can affect levels.

I got bloods done in September my Hba1c were 87 and my fasting bloods were 17.2. I didn't know I was diabetic as had no symptoms. I wasn't well my heart rate and blood pressure were very high so my doctor did blood test.

Got bloods again this month my Hba1c was 59 and fasting bloods 9. So it's a big difference but still have to work on it. That's not too bad you could easily reduce it with diet and exercise.

I'm a type 1 diabetic and my last HBA1C was 40. It is likely you are diabetic but if its type 2, don't worry its totally manageable and with some work you can get yourself back in range :)

Thank you :)

My second test came back at 50 too.

I have my first appointment with the diabetic nurse on Thursday. The doctor said because of my age (34) they will be making sure to rule out type 1 first.
