Fasting or non fasting blood test

Sorry, just posted this on my other post but it may not be seen.
Does anyone know if diabetes blood tests are usually fasting or non fasting?
I haven't been told it's a fasting blood test, I asked the receptionist when I booked it and she just said the Dr would have told me if I need to fast, I'm going to assume this is the case and she didn't forget (the main consultation was something else and mention of blood test an after thought).

So...if it's a standard non fasting blood test and I fast. Will this impact the results? I ask because it's an early morning appointment and I won't have eaten or drank anything other than water anyway. So I'm effectively (intentionally fasting) but worried it'll impact any results?

If they are just checking your hba1c then fasting makes no difference. If a random blood glucose test then it will make a difference, make sure to tell them if you've fasted. You can ask which it is when you get there, but they are usually hba1c.

It will be a hba1c which is a measurement of glucose in your blood stream over the last 90 days
