Reusing test strips

I am type 2 diabetic and ran out of test strips a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for a prescription to be issued. I was tidying earlier and found a strip on the floor just under the chair. I don't know why but I was curious about seeing what would happen if I re-used it, I expected an error code but instead got a result of 17.5mmol 🤯 Am I right thinking this probably is very inaccurate? I haven't had a reading that high for over a year and have my diet under control. That serves me right for being curious! Has anyone else tried reusing strips? What happened?

I imagine it’s very inaccurate.

If you google your test strips you can buy them without a prescription (Amazon/pharmacy). I know they are free on prescription but if you need to monitor then that could be an option.
Why have you had to wait so long for a prescription? That seems really slow!

I'm only on metformin so I'm lucky to have any prescribed. They give me 50 strips per month and I used them up too quickly and had to wait for the new prescription.
