Is this pre-diabetes?

I have just been to a Lloyds Chemist and had a diabetes test. She told me everything was fine, my reading was 5.7. Looking on Dr Google mentions that 5.7-6.4 is pre-diabetic, she did not mention that. Anyone else have that reading (5.7) and doing different things for health/going to GP etc? She asked me if I wanted the print-out, and she would also send to GP if I wanted. (I said yes.)

Had you fasted beforehand? From what I read it could be prediabetes if your blood sugar level was 5.5 - 6.9 after fasting before the test

From www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html

She mentioned it was a random test not a fasting one. I had not eaten since last night's dinner but I had a cup of milky coffee this morning, so it looks okay according to the link.

You might want to see your gp and do a fasting test and they can also do a test to see your long-term blood sugar (hba1c). They could also look at cholesterol and blood pressure as they can be affected by similar things to diabetes.

It’s good to get it checked out and monitored. Healthy eating, weight loss (if needed) and exercise are all things that would help if it was diabetes (and most likely even if it isn’t).
