I am a University student at Sheffield Hallam and I am hoping that I can get some help with the project I am working on.

My project revolves around living with Diabetes and I have developed an interest in Gestational Diabetes.

I have never heard about Gestational Diabetes before this project and I am eager to design an app or a piece of software that would aid an expecting mother that has this type of diabetes or at high risk. I realised how important this is after doing some basic research.

I would appreciate it if anyone could share their personal experiences on this topic, I will be forever grateful.

Laura

Hi Laura. What do you want to know? What is the app going to provide?

@rosey56, I had gestational diabetes on my youngest and have since developed type 2 diabetes, what sort of information are you looking for?

As someone thin, fairly active and ate well.. it was a MASSIVE shock and I was terrified... i didn't know much about it and i thought i was doomed and my baby was doomed.. Did you know how many women are going through pregnancy not knowing because not all trusts offer the OGTT test!? It's not good. I have newly been diagnosed with my first and I blame it on my diet...then i blame it on eating too much... then i blame it on not exercising enough.. it was quite traumatic! I have since created a petition to support women and babies so that ALL women everywhere in the UK has access to the OGTT test in pregnancy www.change.org/Equal-pregnancy-care please sign and share this is SOOO important !!

You might want to contact Addenbrookes Hospital NHS Trust in Cambridge, they have run a clinical trial that used an app and meal delivery kits for mums with GD, I seem to remember the Dr who ran it was called Claire Meeks and it was part funded by Diabetes UK (who also have resources on their website & experts you could talk to).
