Hi my 12 y/o was Diagnosed with type 1 August last year, at her apt today her consultant have said about her going on the pump so we are now waiting for that. She said we can choose out of 2. Do anyone know what one is best please :)

Did they say which ones were on offer? Some pumps have cannula to take insulin from pump to body e.g. Medtronic, whereas others are tubeless e.g. Omnipod. Tubeless are also known as patch pumps as they are attached directly to the skin as opposed to attached via a cannula.

Would be worth finding out which two are on offer and doing some comparisons. A tubed one might be less discreet but may offer better features that appeal more than a patch pump for example.

Also worth thinking about whether CGM either on prescription or by self funding is an option or will be in the future as that may also influence your choice of pump. E.g. certain pumps may offer low suspend when blood glucose goes too low etc

Lots to think about but plenty of reviews out there.

The omnipod is popular amongst young people as there is no tubing. I'm on the accu-chek insight pump and have no complaints, it's smaller than the medtronic and discrete, also Roche have good customer service. To help you decide can you meet with the reps for the pumps she can choose from.

@MintChocAddict @TheSevenDials sorry I didn't get a notification to say you have replied. Thankyou I will find out what ones are on offer and then do some research on them both :)

Seconding the omnipod! I’m on it. It’s tubeless which is such a plus, small and discreet. Great piece of kit!

Thankyou that is the one she wants after looking online :)

I recommend joining the Facebook group Omnipod UK. You can read up about it and ask any questions you have from loads of users.

Thankyou I'll look for it now :)
