Life expectancy

Can anyone tell me if type 2 diabetes lowers life expectancy nowadays and by how much?
Dp just diagnosed and panicking ð???

I don't know the stats. But keeping his sugars down and having regular eye/foot checks will help reduce the risk of complications. Has he been offered a dietitian appointment to help him with his diet?
