My Husband has recently been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s Dementia 😢. My question is has anyone been successful in claiming PIP for this please?

It will depend on how difficult he finds various everyday tasks not on his diagnosis I’m afraid. I’m assuming he is below state pension age in which case PIP is the benefit. I would look at the criteria first so you can think whether he might be entitled. Citizens advice can help with this.

Also look at council tax reduction. I think that is available for anyone with dementia, not only those over pension age.

Where are you in the country? And how old is he?

im in the same boat.

I definately think it WOULD qualify for PIP. How old is he?

Thank you all. He is 62 years old. We are in North wales.

Husband is also 62 and was diagnosed about a year ago. We have a teenage child.
We applied for PIP, were turned down. We appealed and were turned down again.
It's worth a try but my experience was not great.

In Scotland - you are given a post diagnostic support worker. They help you complete the forms.
my husband qualified. But only coz we knew what to say.

i would suggest you contact Alzheimer’s actor and see if they have someone similar who could sit with you and help.
I am so sorry you are having to deal with this, it’s a shit road to travel
