Sudden improvement

Mum is 91, and has had combined dementia for about 8 years. She had a chest infection in August and had a massive decline. She’s been bed-bound and incontinent since with minimal speech or recognition. However, over the last couple of weeks she seems to be emerging. She suddenly knows who we are and is engaging in simple conversations. She much more alert and aware of her situation.

All a bit odd and unexpected. Has anyone else had experience of this?

Sorry no help here, but I can empathise with the dementia side. It's so hard on the carer(s).
Hopefully someone will come along soon with for informative advice.
