My Grandad has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and vascular dementia. We're in the process of trying to move him into a home but he's strongly resisting and he won't even consider the idea of moving in with us, we tried one night and he lost it.
Our concern is that he keeps talking about going to 'his own house' but means his childhood home miles away. Whilst we're trying to get the wheels in motion of assisted living, I want to put some sort of tracker in his coat in case he does leave the house without us. Someone is with him all day and we put him to bed before we leave but I'm concerned he may get up and leave.
Does anyone know any sort of devices for this reason, that would send me an alert if he was to leave his house?
I tried a ring door bell and he took it down. I've tried staying over at his house but he's fiercely independent so won't allow that to happen either. We've got away with being there all day everyday so far by making out he's doing us a favour as we're having building work at home and it's too noisy.
