My mum is being referred for a CT scan following a dementia test with a score of 84/100 (she was having a good day). Can anyone throw some light on what this means and what is the likely progression of the disease over the short term if she is officially assessed as having such.

I think the progression varies massively @switchname and I don't think anyone will be able to help you with that one.

DMIL was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and I think the life expectancy is 5 years. She did exceed that but was very physically fit before the diagnosis and afterwards for a while.
