I made a photobook of happy family occasions which was an absolute hit last year, it'll never be outdone probably and can't really be repeated.

This year i've found this colourful book of memories of growing up for people born in the 40s, which my dad was which isn't available yet but looks like a great idea.

Men are hard to buy for anyway but now reading books is kind of out, it's even harder. TBH he needs prompting to do much.

Anyway, I thought others might be appreciative of an ideas thread.

Thank you Nutella. Sadly it's too late for us as DMIL caught Covid earlier in the year and had now died but it's a lovely idea for a thread Flowers

The Pictures to Share books are very good. We also had success with the sort of coffee table books which are mostly photos (e.g. Yorkshire Landscapes)

Sorry to hear about your DMIL @PritiPatelsMaker 😔

Nice one @BlueberryBasket , I'll take a look. Dad's birthday is not point after Christmas so I'll have that to buy for too

I just got my dad some warm gloves as his hands are always cold and I might make some fudge or mint creams.

If your Dad had a favourite pet, a book of pictures is lovely, I bought Meow for my cat-loving Mum, gave her hours of pleasure. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Meow-Book-Happiness-Lovers-Animal/dp/192582022X/ref=ascdff192582022Xnodl?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=375506194706&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9085666643490450053&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007420&hvtargid=pla-830217062600&psc=1&th=1&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=79766931994&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=375506194706&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9085666643490450053&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007420&hvtargid=pla-830217062600&dplnkId=a8a1ee7d-4585-405f-ac57-e64d782c80ca (sorry for horrific link)

This also looks lovely - a similar book of birds https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1796716383/ref=sspadkkdetail2?psc=1&pffrdp=8d91a06c-52c8-441e-afa4-963e53268566&pffrdr=VFDY362ZR7TET4049KKV&pddrdwg=9nbXn&pddrdw=0LoOF&content-id=amzn1.sym.8d91a06c-52c8-441e-afa4-963e53268566&pddrdr=ae578f1c-84cf-481f-9312-a26e7e165ba0&s=books&spp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw. I'm sure there are dogs, horses etc versions

Stick on the window bird feeder and selection of seeds was a massive hit

My mum has very poor eyesight so books are out for her. One thing that she loves is her photo blanket with pictures of all the grandchildren and the dog on it. I bought one for Christmas 2019 and got a new one with more up to date photos for her last year but she didn't really want. I have tried to interest her in it but she doesn't want to know. The old one however is almost a security blanket now!

Another unsuccessful gift was a photo cushion in the shape of the dog. She told me to take it home because it reminded her of him and made her miserable!

Her birthday is the week before Christmas. I am going to get her a new nighty, some pretty scarves and some roll on perfume. It is hard because she has no need for anything, nothing gives her pleasure. She used to love her chocolates but now they stay in her room unopened. Very sad.

it's very difficult my mum has just gone into a care home but her stage of dementia now nothing much interests her. I got her a nice shower jel posh soaps though noticed she still has some !! a colourful soft scarf some chocolates and biscuits and nice jams. Also got her this glass rose saying mum on it which I thought might catch her eye. It's so difficult mum used to like flowers but now takes little notice. Roll on perfume is a good idea
and maybe things like warm socks warm vests wtc though mum has plenty of these
A photo book.was a good idea until she spolt a drink over it !!
read on another thread about a lava lamp that was a big success as pretty to look at
