Tough Time

I sort out all the care for my parent who is in the early stages of Alzhiemer's.

I've had quite a tough time with it lately but have managed to put on a cheerful
act at work. The trouble is I feel a couple of friends I regard as very good ones are backing away as they don't want to hear about my difficulties. It's not like I constantly bombard them with my problems or don't listen to theirs. I guess I am getting boring.

I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this? I've been unable to attend care givers groups in my area as they have been when I have been working.

Looking after a DParent with Dementia can be all consuming and exhausting, I'm so sorry that your DFs are backing away though.

What have you managed to get in place so far @daybaywatch? Does she go to daycare? Have you got POA?

Hi @PritiPatelsMaker - everything is in place that can be at this point in time.

I'm exhausted today and feeling under the weather. You are right about it being consuming.

So sorry that you're suffering today. Have you found the Elderly Parents section yet? It's a bit busier than in here and there's a long-running support thread Flowers

Thank you. I will check it out Flowers
