Memantine Side Effect

My parent has been taking Memantine and has occasional breathlessness. I have googled the side effects and shortness of breath is not listed as a main one but it says see a doctor if the patient has shortness of breath.

The GP knows about the breathless episodes and a GP did a home visit last week.

Surely the GPS would check the side effects of the medication or do I need to point it out? It is a medication recommended by the psychiatrist that made the diagnosis. The GP prescribes it.

No sure on this one and you might get a few more replies if you post in Elderly Parents, it's a bit busier than this section Smile
