Carer's Allowance

Hi. Have any of you had any experience of filling out the carer's allowance form on behalf of anyone else?

I know this might seem like a silly question but is it safe to put the bank account details in which the allowance is to be paid on a paper form and send it in the post?

Is it easy to fill the form out online?

Thanks

Yes, it’ll be fine. They won’t grant it without it. I fill in lots of these and never had an issue

Sorry if this is too late for you but posting in case, whenever I have every had to send anything with relatives bank account details in, I always send it recorded delivery/registered post or whatever they call it now - the thing that has both tracking and signed for.

Obviously you can't 100% guarantee anything in life - but it eliminates the risk of it being misdelivered/opened by a total stranger.

It is a long form and my advice would be to print it out first and make notes over a week or so - because there are loads of things that you probably do/or the applicant needs help with that you forget about.

A piece of advice I was given was call them and ask them to send you the form - because then they stamp it with the date it is sent out so if you make a claim Within specified period I think its about 28 days, they back date it to the date of the stamp. Whereas if you fill it in on line you just get it from the date the application is allowed if its granted.

It always takes agess to process so a stamped form sent by post can mean you get an extra month or so.

This is about attendance allowance not carers allowance btw - maybe the same for carers too but I have no direct experience of that.

Hi and thanks for the replies. I got the attendance allowance form done and sent it by recorded post.

I downloaded the electronic and saved it as I went along as there was a lot of information to gather and my handwriting is rubbish.
