My mum moved into a care home about a month ago following a month in a psychiatric hospital after being sectioned .She has moderate to severe dementia.Visiting hours were suddenly cut to 1/2 an hour and only twice a week ( although they did honour visits already booked and do sometimes allow visits to run to an hour). We were told this was because too many people were visiting every day for staff to support visits .This is very hard for my Dad .Is this in line with most care homes at the moment?

I only have experience of DM's hole but visits there are now unlimited. You have to do a lateral test before you go and prove that it was negative.

I can imagine that it's hard on your DF though. How is he in himself? Do you think that he might benefit from things like a lunch club?

Thanks BunnyRuddington He is keeping himself busy, mostly sorting out at home . I think he would resist anything like a lunch club at the moment. We do lateral flows , temperature and for some reason pulse oximeter, We also book in advance and wear. as requested, aprons, masks and gloves. I get they have reason keep covid out but don't understand why visits are so limited .
