Long story short, my DFather was diagnosed with fronto temporal dementia 6 years ago and is now bed bound with aphasia. He has no ability to communicate and is reliant on care for everything from personal care to eating and drinking. He sometimes says a few words that have no meaning. It is so hard to see him fading away in front of my eyes.

I just wish I could turn back the clock to tell him one more time - and him understand- that I love him.

faerie sorry, only just seen this post. For what it's worth, I'm sure that the person that your dad used to be knew you loved him. Dementia strips them of so much in the here and now, but we can only hope that they don't have an awareness of the absences. It's so hard.
