The first time I find a thread that I could read out to my dh that he would be truly interested in and he's gone to work!!!!
(him being a true Blue and all that!)

wintercitylover · 19/01/2009 18:45

perhaps you could ask him whether he knows how restricted the view is from the MH stand.

DCs and I are going there on Sat and because we dithered a bit abt getting tix that's all they have left.

yes, there is restricted viewing from all round the ground, winter. Week in, week out you never get to see a proper football play there.....

wintercitylover · 21/01/2009 10:23

Very funny Pan - I know that alot of people think Chelsea don't play very interesting football.

Just hope me and DCs can see some of the play.

Hi winter, so sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I'd like to have a really good excuse but the truth is that I forgot to ask dh till today

anyway, according to dh you won't get a restricted view in the MH stand because it's a cantilever stand and relatively new, so that's good news. He also said that if you go on chelseafc.com you can type in where you will be and it shows you the view etc. Apparently he did that before we went last time. There's all sorts of bumph on there, so he says, so you'll hopefully find it useful.

Hope this helps, have a great time
xxxx

foxinsocks · 21/01/2009 19:03

me me me me

gwan then ask

we sit in the MH

foxinsocks · 21/01/2009 19:04

our first season tickets were right at the top of the MHL (like right at the top) and those aren't great....let me know exactly where you are and I'll tell you what it's like (ladym is right, you can see on the website too)

wintercitylover · 21/01/2009 19:33

row ee - they said it was a restricted view and from what I can gather we are under the overhang of the upper stand.

I think you can't always see the shed end goal.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 21/01/2009 20:34

yes it is very high up in that lower stand...I think we were II or maybe even JJ and you really do get a bit of an overhang there (but not tooooooooo bad). I quite liked it because we were near the aisle then so could get out easily. We sat there for a whole season.

I think you'll be ok in ee. 4 or 5 rows forward from where we used to sit, can't see it will be a major problem. Fingers crossed you get some goals down the MH end!

(will also ask dh when he is home (prob tomorrow) as he will remember the view better than I did!)

foxinsocks · 21/01/2009 20:34

are you right on the corner? we were ii/jj but in the middle (am just thinking of the overhang)

wintercitylover · 21/01/2009 20:44

in the low 200s not sure where that will be

Haven't recvd tix yet they are on their way.

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 21/01/2009 20:48

yes think that's towards the corner, towards the east stand I think....

wintercitylover · 22/01/2009 11:18

thx am excited esp at thought of seeing Frank (!) and nervous at the same time.

VanessaParody · 22/01/2009 11:30

Ooh, I haven't been since they took the shed down. [old bag emoticon]

VanessaParody · 22/01/2009 11:34

It was Bobby Campbells Blue & White Army in those days. And the only forrin players were Scottish.

"My word, what a goal, Dave Beasant hardly had time to put his cigarette out". Etc.

Happy days.

PadDad · 23/01/2009 06:09

Have a good trip, sing the correct words (if they sing in the Matthew Harding Stand -- they never did when I was taken).

"Carefree wherever you may be,
We are the noveau Chelsea FC,
So please sit down, so my wife can see,
I've been coming here since 2003"

"Stamford Bridge is falling down
falling down
falling down
Stamford Bridge is falling down
Poor old Chelsea!"

"Big, fat, big fat Frank,
Big, fat, big fat Frank
Big, fat, big fat Frank
Big fat Frankie Lampard"

"Ten men went to lift,
Went to lift Frank Lampard,
Ten men and a forklift truck,
Went to lift Frank Lampard.

Nine men went to lift,
Went to lift Frank Lampard ..." etc

"Ten men went to bed,
Went to bed with Ashley,
Ten men and a mobile phone,
Went to bed with Ashley.

Nine men went to bed,
Went to bed with Ashley, ..." etc

sincitylover · 24/01/2009 20:38

We had a brilliant time the view was not too bad, it was very friendly and the atmosphere was brilliant. I heart Frank and Chelsea

foxinsocks · 24/01/2009 20:40

ah excellent, glad you enjoyed it. The MHL has got a lot better over the years and is now full of hard core singing fans!

sincitylover · 24/01/2009 21:25

yes I def want to go again - it's a question of money.

Also next time want to drive - I know it's not easy to park near there but the jouney over (i live in SE London) was horrendous. Tubes closed due to engineering work so buses and walking.

foxinsocks · 24/01/2009 21:26

yes, if you drive, let me know. I'll tell you where to park nearish for free (not right near, but near enough!).

sincitylover · 26/01/2009 11:57

Yes if you could let me have that for future reference - cat me if you don't want to display publicly.

I am still quite exhilerated by it all. I spent the best part of my teens and early 20s consumed by football and it looks like it is coming around full circle.

And as my two DCs love it so much it's a good job I am that interested.
