Jeans Suitable for Work

VOTE: Do you think most blokes would notice if a female coworker wore nicer jeans if all the guys typically wear old, completely out of style, baggy in all the wrong places, worn-out pairs?

Going into a "smart casual" workplace, will black straight leg jeans garner unwanted attention? At what point would an outfit look out of place in a jeans and polo environment?

"nicer" as in not beat up

If the fellas are wearing baggy saggy jeans then I don't see why black jeans and a nice top/shirt wouldn't be acceptable. What do you mean by would the fellas notice nicer jeans - notice as in "I should dress better" type attention or notice as in " oh who's she trying to impress" type attention or "she's nice, I might fancy her" type attention. Just remember, men are often impossible to understand their rhyme or reasoning for anything 🤷

yeah, i dont want to b noticed for my clothes in any way. i dont think theyll believe they should dress better if i am lol

i also dont want to get into "whos she trying to impress" territory simply for not wearing utter crap. ive never had the "fancy" attention in these types of pants, i think theyre presentable so hopefully ur right n theyre not too formal or sticking out like a sore thumb

Im the female in slightly better clothes in this case. Im also boss of many of them, which probably changes things slightly.

I absolutely do wear clothes that still allow me to fill a skip, and shift pallets around (yesterdays suprises) but also my shoes aren't falling apart, and my tops aren't branded with my previous employers name.....

If they are wearing faded, damaged, poorly fitting clothes, they probably don't care about clothes, so won't notice!

I’m a woman and I have a lovely pair of cream pin tuck jeans that I wear to work. I get a ton of compliments

Like PP’s it doesn’t sound like they’d even notice? 3 blokes in our team of 7 and only one of them has ever been known to notice or comment on anyone else’s choice of clothing, and no surprise it’s the one of the 3 that pays the most attention to his own clothes and style.

the only problem is if u were my boss id then b terrified of accidentally outdressing u. to me smart casual meant jeans and a nice shirt or chinos n a roll neck so i was not expecting this

ty! but im not looking for compliments on my clothes, in the past ive caught male coworkers forgetting a new woman's name n calling her "the one w the glasses" (while i was sitting w them, wearing appently invisible glasses as the only other woman there), n just always having overheard things along those lines (but way more incel coded) i want to b remembered but not for my looks at work.

like i hv other nice jeans that r not completely plain but im scared of looking like im trying or over dressing.

thanks @CheeseWisely ! im not sure what u mean by "PP's" but that is reassuring. i wonder if part of it is being outnumbered, like the other two know to behave bc of that? ime, nice guys w no style will give noncreepy compliments but it still hurts bc it's never my intent at work.

Nope, I definitely outdress my boss.
He has the destroyed jeans and too small polo shirt on!
Edit: unless he puts a suit and tie on, when actually people do comment - mainly as to what important is happening.

If you turned up at my office in a ball gown, bikini or lady Gaga's meat dress then I'd probably notice what you're wearing. If you turn up wearing black trousers and a top then it wouldn't even register.
