My husband in his early 50s,has suddenly lost all interest in sex; isn’t getting morning erections or responding to touch , cuddles etc. we have spoken about it. He tells me that until 2 months ago he was masturbating 1-2 times a day to online porn despite showing no interest in me. This porn use was new to me but he tells me that’s normal for men. Sex between us been at most three times a year for many years mainly because she has shown no interest.In that time I’ve noticed he hasn’t been getting fully hard. He would show interest if I undressed in front of him but again he said that was normal- I assumed because I am older myself and so less attractive that when we first met.

i just wanted a male take on this. Is this normal? The porn use; the masturbation ; the lack of real sex ?

@Wobbles21 It varies such a lot between individuals and couples, but I think porn combined with masturbation can rewire a man's brain, so that he finds it difficult to respond to real sex. If you're both serious about solving this, I'd start with him agreeing to give up porn, then try to learn to start communicating around sex. I'm late 50s with a healthy sex drive: I'd say that's normal.

it might be normal for you husband- but men are not one homogeneous group- so I would say overall- no not normal - stop using porn - concentrate on your relationship and he also needs GP check up as impotentce in his 50s can be an early warning flag for other issues

Masturbating to porn twice A DAY every day for years is absolutely NOT normal behavior

Whilst its probably due to porn and excessive masturbation it could be a sign of heart disease so he should see a dr asap
