a shirt he's been eyeing up for ages - not for work, for going out. He didn't buy it because he said "with 2 young kids, I can't justify spending £35 on a shirt just to go out in" and he asked me to send it back to Next. I shoved it in my wardrobe and paid the bill before he saw it.

He'll be stoked - he normally gets a dvd and a bag of pic n mix from us

shelleylou · 09/06/2008 08:37

xp is having a seelction of photos of ds. Not costing a huge amount but i knw he'll appreciate it as he doesnt have many photos of his daughter.

SSSandy2 · 09/06/2008 08:38

some kind of football t-shirt if he's into that maybe?

I always just get dh a book, I don't get very creative with these kind of things

Buda · 09/06/2008 08:41

Same as he got me.

Sod bloody all.

GooseyLoosey · 09/06/2008 08:44

Photos for his desk of dd and ds and they will make him some chocolate brownies. Like to make sure that the dcs are involved in whatever it is.

geordieminx · 09/06/2008 10:36

What about a mouse mat with a picture of the kids on or a mug?

Bottle of whisky/cigars/mp3 player?

Nbg · 09/06/2008 10:40

I got dh this

In the past I've got him a rugby top and an England football shirt with a 1 and Dad printed on the back

fleacircus · 09/06/2008 10:43

It's DP's first father's day - I've got a t-shirt for DD to wear that says 'My Daddy Rocks' (cheesy, yes, and the only thing I've ever bought with a slogan on it, but it will make him laugh); 'Okki Tokki Unga', a book of songs for kids with music that he can play on his guitar; about to go to Tesco online photo site to get something with a photo printed on it for my dad. And popping out in a bit to get cards and possibly some chocs or something for DP.

mum2oneloudbaby · 09/06/2008 10:53

first fathers day so have got him a mug with his favourite pic on.

got a great deal because snapfish have an offer on code DAD08.

Twinkie1 · 09/06/2008 10:56

Got DH a mug that says Top Dad - quite cool Jamie Oliver design thingy and a book that he has to fill in about his life and friends etc and his relationships with the DCs which is sort of a thing that yu give the kids when they grow up and have kids of their own or when you pass away.

It was his birthday last week and I got him a Wii a couple of Wii games and a book and Cd from the kids so am a bit broke but I am sure he isn't expecting any grand gestures!

MONKEYMONKEY · 09/06/2008 10:56

My DP needs a groomig set so gonna get a nice one from Boots.
Ugh that nose hair.

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2008 11:00

a radio controlled pirate ship to sail in the boating lake

it has a cannon

EricL · 09/06/2008 11:10

Ooooh franny - that's feckin lush.

i would LOVE that.

I always like the attention thing on Fathers Day to be honest - where they get me nice things for breakfast, cook them badly, bring them up, and make sure i do absolutely SOD ALL.

The presents i get are normally just small things - but its really just the spoiling aspect of it i enjoy.

Threadwormm · 09/06/2008 11:14

Yesterday I apologised profusely to DH, whizzed to Tesco for a card, bullied the DSs into signing it and handing it over ... and then realised I was a week early.

Othersideofthechannel · 09/06/2008 11:19

DH and I don't do presents on these occasions.
The DCs make a creation.

Franny, that is exactly what DS wants for Christmas, can you link?

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2008 11:44

oh good Eric, am glad I was not wildly off the mark! I must admit I was quite chuffed with it myself (is a fab present for dp and ds to play with together), but dp has kind of found out about it as I left the box in the spare room and he opened it, thinking it was something else

he appeared non plussed to be told it was his present and to try and forget about it

here it is in its glory
search for rc pirate ship on eBay if that auction has expired

it's sold out on this site but it shows a video of it in action

Well DH asked 6y to buy him some weekend socks. So socks he has, plus some nice flip flops for the summer hols. DD and I went shopping this weekend.

UnquietDad · 09/06/2008 11:47

It's not necessarily about "getting" things abut about having things done for you. Best Father's Day I had in the last few years was one where they let me have a long lie-in followed by coffee brought to me, and a huge cooked breakfast at the cafe in the local park.

For the last Mother's Day I got the DCs to do a "Mummy Book" which they spent about three weeks putting together - photos, drawings, things that remind them of Mummy, etc. It cost next-to-nothing and she said it was the best present she had ever had!

nailpolish · 09/06/2008 11:48

i have just got dh a nice pair of breeks in sainsburys

nailpolish · 09/06/2008 11:48

oh and we are going to a bbq and i have offered to drive home

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2008 11:51

darn it UQDad, don't say that
I am 8 months pg and hoped a big pirate ship would let me off the having things done for you side of it
