carpet fitting help!!

hi, i've got to fit a carpet in my son's bedroom. Its got a recess by the door but the rest is just rectangular. Has anyone got any tips of the best way for me to do it. Any advice greatfully appreciate it

DH is carpet fitter, he says to measure room and take carpet outside to cut it up.
Leave couple of inches extra on in case.
Do longest wall first, recess last.
Or if you live near Durham, He'll do it and give you the MN discount

damn nowhere near Durham, Its a pain as i got given the carpet i cant get a shop to fit it, cant afford to get someone out and cant get family or friends to do it for me. Only help ive got is mum having ds while i attempt it. Doesnt help that i really want it down before his dad and sister come on friday and its cureently in mylounge. Thanks for the help.

Try asking around, lots of folk do their own and may be prepared to help.
