What would you enjoy as a romantic gesture from your DW?

DH has just started a new job which he seems to be enjoying after several years in one which made him miserable. I'd like to do something romantic to celebrate and that doesn't mean sending him off for a day's activity on his own but us doing something together instead.

What would you find romantic as I don't want it to be all about me but all about him for once?

How about hiring a sporty/classic car and going for a romantic picnic somewhere?

DaDaDa · 16/05/2008 17:11

Dinner and/or a posh hotel would do nicely for me. I'm easily pleased.

BarcodeZebra · 17/05/2008 20:10

Packet of proper sausages from the butchers and a nice bottle of Shiraz.

We are uncomplicated.

Or, at least, I am.

OskarLaTrey · 19/05/2008 12:55

Make him a nice dinner and talk to him.

YouNeverKnow · 19/05/2008 12:57

my hubby would say the sausages and wine oh and a bit of jiggy i imagine

BarcodeZebra · 19/05/2008 21:08

Oh, yeah! Some sex. forgot about that. Too busy thinking about the sausages and shiraz.

Lasagne would do it, too. Or a fish supper. And a hand job in the park on the way home.

Ahh, youth. Where did it go?

Elasticwoman · 23/05/2008 21:31

I once offered to take dh to posh restaurant for his birthday. He opted instead for Jurassic Park at cinema, and shepherd's pie followed by rice pudding at home.

Uncomplicated is right, Barcode Zebra.

Janni · 23/05/2008 21:39

The gesture probably does not matter too much as long as it includes lingerie and lurve ..

NigellaTheUndomesticGoddess · 23/05/2008 21:40

Dh suggests a blow job.

Elasticwoman · 23/05/2008 21:42

My dh doesn't give a about lingerie. If I wear anything at all to bed he takes it as a personal insult and says "why are you wearing that old dishcloth?"

MrsTittleMouse · 23/05/2008 21:43

I once directed DH to a local beauty spot after a nice meal and pounced on him. He mentions it fondly whenever we pass that way. I think that having been married for a while it's fun to act like hormonal teenagers.

DH would like the wine and sausages too though.

Elasticwoman · 23/05/2008 21:44

What is it with men and sausages?

Janni · 23/05/2008 22:06

elasticwoman.

What about stockings? Nice silk knickers? He surely wouldn't mistake them for dishcloths??

Elasticwoman · 24/05/2008 11:22

No, Janni. He prefers naked flesh.

learningallthetime · 24/05/2008 11:27

Food and sex everytime, works without fail, - men are very easy to please

DearHusband · 29/05/2008 19:42

Food, sex and beer.

Food and beer are optional tbh

Flashman · 29/05/2008 22:18

How about a PS3?

Pan · 29/05/2008 23:06

A bunch of tiger lillies, a framed copy of my favourite Walt Whitman love-poem "Captain My Captain" and some nice writing paper, but then I am uberponce. Apparently.

2sugars · 29/05/2008 23:07

A Roomba.
