Hi, I'm a 40 year old civil servant IT service manager, bsc degree in early 20s, cancer in mid 20s, settled down at 30, had kids in last 4 years, but I've got to a stage where I no longer have motivation/desire to push myself at anything, my career progression is very slow unless any of my superiors retire there's unlikely to be openings, my home responsibilities are a tough juggling act as I can't match the energy, I have looked at switching careers to maybe give me a boost by trying skmething different. Problem is I don't really know what I want to do other than I would like to retrain in something where you study and work at the same time and get paid. I've looked at teaching work and contracting in IT sector. Any other suggestions greatfully received. Thanks

Have a look at the Mature Study and Retraining board:

But retraining and re-establishing require even more energy than the status quo - so it might be wise to review your health with your GP sometime soon.
