What Car!

I need a car to take two childseats and one adult on the back seat, preferably avoiding MPVs.
My budget is fine - £20k - but even Passats look too narrow, although I haven't tried one yet.
If I do go for an MPV what do you recomend? S-Max, Zafira, C4 Picasso or Touran?

what stage car seats?

Touran is highly rated, my sister has one and the 2 litre diesel is very economical and the car is excellent, you can put seats up and down and all that malarky.
She got a bargain a brand new one for £13k.

Can't remember the stages, but three year old and a baby but I am working on accomodating two seats for 3-5 yr olds. I know life will get better with booster seats.
We tried to take a kids bike and a carry cot and wheels to the park the other day and our hatchback struggled!! Could not have hoped to have taken any adults stuff. If I went for a Touran would go for the 2.0d.

Parkers online have good (free for newer cars) car guide, compares alot of similar vehicles, gives the NCAP ratings etc. and what to look out for, what models to avoid etc.

2 seats for 3+ (high backed boosters) will fit in a passat with an adult, but you won't get the baby seat and a booster and an adult in there easily
