Thank you for taking the time to read this post, I really appreciate it.

My name’s Brendan and I'm studying for a degree in psychology with The Open University. If you are a new dad to a child under 1 year old, your help would be really appreciated, and I would value hearing your experiences.

I’m looking for new dads to take part in a study exploring the relationship between attitudes towards gender roles and emotional expression and symptoms of postnatal depression.

What would participation involve?

You will be asked to complete a survey consisting of 49 questions, and you will be given multiple responses to choose from and be asked to select the option that reflects your views. The first 40 questions are designed to measure attitudes towards gender roles and emotional expression, the final nine questions are commonly used to measure levels of postnatal depression. These questions are personal, and you may not be comfortable answering them. If you feel discussing the topic of depression or self-harm may cause you any distress you may wish not to participate in this survey. If you decide to take part, you will be asked to complete a consent form and the questions will then follow. This should take approximately 8 minutes, or 20 minutes if you are a father who has elected to take part in both studies.

Who can take part?

Fathers with children under 1 year old.
• You must be able to read fluent English and have access to the internet via a device such as a computer, smartphone, laptop or tablet.
