Yeah - it's what the internet is great for - a bit of simple fun with technology.

v. funny!

it all sounds the same to me!!

lol!

EricScrooge · 20/12/2007 16:44

Its just a bit of fun. I stopped buying/listening to this stuff in the mid 90's so it is a blast from the past.

There is still an unhealthy scene in the UK for a kind of musical trainspotting of this stuff and it's all they listen to.

Sad but true.

Eric, it seems I killed your Choice Cuts thread with folk music.

I apologise. Surely it's time for another choon?

jezzemxmas · 20/12/2007 18:08

AAhh It takes me back.
DH has Rave Generator 1,2,3,4 etc.. cd's.
Was listening to them the other day.
Jesus I feel sooooo old.

AchristmasRGPARGYcarol · 20/12/2007 18:12

Saw this on Back To The Oldskool forums EricScrooge.

I dont agree that all trainspotters will only listen to oldskool tho. I think that view is a bit blinkered!

EricScrooge · 20/12/2007 18:33

I had a read of those old school forums and i think they are a little obsessed with it.

There is heaps of great music that has come and gone since so i think it is a shame to listen to old stuff a lot of the time.

get in the place and off yer face!!

AchristmasRGPARGYcarol · 20/12/2007 18:48

I wouldn't say obsessed with it. If it's an oldskool forum then that's bound to be what they talk about. Alot of the guys on BackToTheOldSkool also listen to other stuff too and have a diverse musical interest. Obviously there are different forums for different subjects, i.e. production etc and you might get very strong musical opinions if you were to read the production forum, rather than just the "waffle" section, IYSWIM.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, what i'm saying is they are not all trainspotters with ears only for oldskool. I can confirm that first hand!!

Kevlarhead · 20/12/2007 18:51

Am I the only one here who was too young for this stuff when it came out?

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 20/12/2007 19:15

i agree with RG. i loved the cheesey hardcore of the late 90's, didnt really like the trancey stuff that followed, but absolutly adore old skool.

i would give my right arm for just one more night out.

SpawnChorus · 20/12/2007 19:57

Fantastic

EricScrooge · 20/12/2007 20:27

Well then Fairytale - just do it!

There are loads of old school nights around the country every weekend if that is your bag - and there are some much more exciting and innovative nights at decent nightclubs as well depending where you live and you stay away from the cattle-market cheesy ones.

OK - few drinks?

Feel like a bit of fun?

CHECK OUT THE RAVE GENERATOR!

EricScrooge · 20/12/2007 22:58

RG - just like to add that i myself am a terrible musical trainspotter.

I just like a lot of different genres though and am always loving anything new.

I have thousands of these old school records stashed away in the garage - perhaps i should get them out - but there is so much new stuff i just don't have the urge or the time.

very good fun!

EricScrooge · 21/12/2007 16:48

Was that you singing 2-Unlimited UD?

I hope it wasn't mate - that's punishable by death by having a helicopter with speakers hanging from it 'USofA siege style' outside your house playing very loud wanky dutch happy hardcore music for three weeks continuously.

As well as driving you insane, you won't be able to leave your house as all the ASBO chavs withing a ten mile radius will all be larging it outside your house and driving by with the windows down in their fiestas - attracted to the crap music like flies round shit.

So there.
