The Men's Room still sounds like a fetish club/ toilet. Can't we be Dadsnet?

i just googled dadsnet and it actually exists!

not what you are looking for tho

UnquietDad · 04/12/2007 10:58

lou33 · 04/12/2007 11:01

cadeLaideInAManger · 04/12/2007 11:02

never thought about it before but it is a bit dodgy isn't it, the men's room

lou33 · 04/12/2007 11:08

just reminds me of a toilet, i dont think it's dodgy

UnquietDad · 04/12/2007 11:13

Maybe not as dodgy as "dirty babysitters", whatever they are

OP posts:
lou33 · 04/12/2007 11:14

yes i though "oh hello whats all this then" when i saw that

EricL · 04/12/2007 11:27

yeah - i guess it does sound like a toilet.

Mind you - that's where most of the conversations end up in here.

furcoatandnoknickers · 04/12/2007 11:42

How bout calling it what it is.
Forget these Americanisms
'the bog' or
'trap three'or
'the kahzi' (not sure if there's a correct spelling for that!)
te he he

HappyDaddy · 04/12/2007 11:48

The pisser.

The Trough.

Swilling in piss. (Though that might just describe my local).

furTREEcoatandnoHOLLYknickers · 04/12/2007 11:48

the shitter

the dunni

furTREEcoatandnoHOLLYknickers · 04/12/2007 11:53

How very gorgeous!!

BigGitHoHoHoDad · 04/12/2007 12:00

On a serious not how about The Dad's club/Room?

(On a very serious note sorry to hear about your situation Lou, thoughts are with you and I hope your Christmas will be okay)

furTREEcoatandnoHOLLYknickers · 04/12/2007 12:14

sorry was in that sort of mood...........xx

DaddsterInAPearTree · 04/12/2007 13:31

I think to be fair we ARE a kind of fetish club - we are all exhibitionists showing off our textual prowess and how funny we are for the mums. The only reason we do it is because we have a (largely) female audience and are occasionally rewarded by interjections or squeals of outrage from the cheap seats. Otherwise we'd get bored and wander off and tighten that loo-roll holder which keeps falling off...

At the risk of being accused of being a pedant shouldn't it it "Dads' room" rather than "Dad's room"?

UnquietDad · 04/12/2007 13:51

Yes - Dad's Room would be a bit small. Like the "Giant Kid's Playground" in Lynne Truss's book. (Nobody goes there as they are all frightened of the Giant Kid.)

thanks bgd

DaDingDaDongDaMerrilyOnHigh · 04/12/2007 14:22

The problem with 'The Men's Room' is that it makes it sound like all we're ever likely to do is lech over women.

Oh hang on....

Another vote for the Dads' Room here.

By the way UD, did you see in the Guardian that Caroline Flint is part of a parliamentary dance troupe? With Hazel Blears...

UnquietDad · 04/12/2007 14:25

I'm assuming Hazel perches on Caroline's shoulders rather than the other way round...

you should call it the den, then you can have imaginary beer coolers, dart boards ,plasma tvs, pool tables, and sit whittling imaginary pieces of wood with imaginary penknives

furTREEcoatandnoHOLLYknickers · 04/12/2007 14:39

the snug or the snuggery!!
Sounds vaguely rude, but have seen it so on house details!

Swedes2Turnips1 · 04/12/2007 14:41

I think you should call it "We want Britney back in full school uniform" - it seems ridiculous that you should be considering alternatives.

DaDingDaDongDaMerrilyOnHigh · 04/12/2007 14:51

The Smuggery?

lou33 · 04/12/2007 14:53

seeing as i am hating all men today i could think of a lot of names for it

actually all men but one, and only because he is probably too scared of me to be anything but sweet and nice , hence me having lunch with him

SquonkaClaus · 04/12/2007 14:53

How about "the study"? You can pretend to be all highbrow and educated then, and nobody will guess you're reading "nuts" underneath this month's "new Scientist"
