Console? I got mine a PS5 for his 30th?

(Appreciate he may not be a gamer though- and also they are hard to find!)

Surreptitiously find out what toy, model train, model airplane kit, sporting equipment, etc etc. he had or desperately wanted as a boy and find and buy it on ebay. For instance, a 60's Hornbydublo trainset in a box can cost £100 to £200 for the common bottom of the market set. But unfortunately they can be quite a lot more expensive than that. And yes, you've guessed what I would want!

Or what about a build it yourself guitar kit in the style of a classic Fender Strat or Gibson Les Paul if he likes making things. If he can not play, he may learn? Or it can be hung on the wall as an iconic work of art. For a few quid more you could buy a finished look alike guitar.

My kids bought me a day's gliding (as a passenger of course) at the Cotswolds Gliding Club, £130 I think. www.cotswoldgliding.co.uk/ As a lad, I got thrown off my Air Cadet gliding course for dangerous flying (It was my instructors fault for not instructing me properly -- well, that's my story anyway.) and I never stopped going on about it.

My kids have a saying when I tell them something I have told them many times. "Dad Bingo!". They were going to buy me a fast car racing session, but I was still recovering from breaking my shoulder and wouldn't be able to grip the steering wheel properly.

The gliding club were very welcoming and it was a great day. I was severely tempted to take up their "Guarantee to get you flying solo" course. Take as long as you need to go solo, only £700 I think. As the guy explained to me, much more value for money for an old geezer than a young guy who would manage it much more quickly. Lol, no offense taken! I'm still thinking about that, but it probably wont happen.

But of course all "experience" days like the gliding day are on hold due to F*ing C-19 at the moment.
