Wifes birthday

Im looking for some help/ideas for my wifes birthday in june. Shes due to give birth in april then 7 weeks later its her 30th an i want to do somethink special for her. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks.

How lovely. I had my ds on Tuesday and it's my birthday in 7weeks. I would love some pampering hair, facial etc but obvs depends on covid. If not a nice home pampering hamper maybe and a lovely dinner would make me happy.

Give her a day off from whatever she's doing. Hamper, rest, relax. Lovely.

Does she like theatre/art? Perhaps you could find a lockdown performance (if any are happening) and buy a ticket to watch together at home?

I mean we can all suggest some lovely generic gifts but you know your wife and we don’t.

Personally I’d be really disappointed if my husband bought me a generic pampering type gift. I didn’t have the time, or inclination to use my limited energy on that sort of thing when I had a newborn.

I think the best gift would have been one that showed I was still me and loved as me, not just someone filling the wife/mum slot. Don’t get me wrong. I love being mum. But celebrate that bit on Mother’s Day.

Something photo based to start with. Maybe speak to family and friends secretly to dig up some old photos or dig through social media.

If you plan to do current mother baby pictures then make sure that bit is not a surprise.

Definitely do an experience too, not just a physical gift. So day at home pampering, or trip to her favourite spot, or where you first met.

Aw. I tell you what, this year I turned 31, did not have a new baby but DH gave me a cheeseboard (as in the actually cheese, not the board itself) and it was absolutely immense. If I had just been off cheeses for 9 months due to pregnancy it would have been even more epic. Obviously depends if your wife likes cheese!

Hopefully 7 weeks after birth she will be fairly with it. So maybe you can have the baby for the morning and she can do whatever she wants (that might be spend time with you and the baby though!). See if grandparent can come round and you can go out for a fancy dinner (hopefully by April we might be a bit freer?)

Get her a good cake and flowers, they should be a bonus not the main thing.

Jewellery is always a bit risky.

Does she have any hobbies? Nice bit of decor eg a print for the wall?

Depends you live but I have booked a behind the scenes theatre tour for DH’s bday in May! Pop baby in carrier! In London though. Also covid dependent.

Maybe a necklace with all your names/initials engraved on a pendant/s.

I got one of these for Christmas and I am overjoyed, I haven't yet given birth so can't wear the necklace as has her name on it and no one knows. It was so thoughtful and lovely.

I love it and never take it off!

Lots of nice ideas here, but more than anything make sure you take the baby and give her a nice, long lie-in with breakfast in bed. With a three month old baby she’ll be desperate for sleep!

And by give her a lie-in, I mean jump out of bed as soon as the baby awakes and take him/her downstairs. Don’t lie in bed waiting for dw to wake up and take over while you do breakfast! Used to drive me mad when dh did that!

Give her some time to herself. At 7 week pp she will be sleep deprived and exhausted. As soon as the baby wakes, be that 4am, you're on duty. If she is breast feeding take the baby away to wind and settle, so she can go straight back to sleep. Keep that up all day - she feeds you do the winding and settling.

My DH bought me a gold watch for my 30th. A plain style, not flashy. It's very special. I wear it every day. Eternity rings are traditional but realistically rarely worn.
