When I accelerate between speeds of 40 & 55 mph my Saab 93 Conv. shudders & shakes quite a bit. What is causing this ?

Wheels not alligned?

EricL · 02/09/2007 22:08

Probably - most garages will do a free check for you and tell you if it is the allignment.

The wheels have be set in a perfect position for the best performance - they can get out of allignment through normal use or if you have gone over some pot-holes or bumped them off curbs and such.

A good way of checking yourself is to see if the tyres are worn evenly - if they aren't then you know you have a problem.

Can I do the Tommy Cooper thing and tell you not to accelerate between those speeds then!!

That was my response too BGD

I have a 93 too and it does just the same thing - I suspect they may be particularly susceptible to misaligned front wheels as mine started doing it after getting a relatively minor bang on the nearside front wheel from the kerb.

you need to get the tracking done (probably) that's what happened when i needed mine doing - tyres worn unevenly?
