Turning into your dad

It's happening to me. The hair is going and I'm repeating the same phrases in the same tone of voice, without ever consciously remembering them...

Has this happened to anyone else? And what countermeasures can I take?

Are you wearing white socks with sandals and becoming increasingly bad tempered?
If so,there is no hope.

KH, it happens to us women too, well with our Mum's that is . Hair intact but repeating phrases in the same tone of voice to my kids....I'm with you there!

Kevlarhead · 23/07/2007 21:20

I made arrangements some time ago to have myself killed if I started wearing socks with sandals, so I'm covered there.

I've been grumpy for years though; nothing new there.

It's the tone of voice thing that worries me though; the idea that these memories have been sitting quietly for 25+ years, and suddenly make themselves felt when I'm trying to stop DS from dribbling his drink down himself.

Tell us what sort of things yuo come out with.

biggitdad · 23/07/2007 23:10

Do you fancy your mum as well then? Okay sick joke and I apologise!!

Pan · 24/07/2007 02:24

just couldn't stop yourself , could you????????? ha.

and what's creepier, KH, is that in 25 years time, your ds will be asking.."Why is it that..?"

and I've made similar arrangements if I ever wear a cardigan.

Gee72 · 24/07/2007 10:58

Cardigans are back in, Pan.

My Dad used to drive me mad with his 'love my boys' routine. I can see now I'm a Dad that I'm going to be even more sentimental than he is!

Pan · 24/07/2007 17:48

Gee - that aren't "in" round here! Know what you mean..called "zip- tops" or something equally euphemistic...evil.

'if it looks like a cardigan, smells like a cardigan, then it's probably a cardigan!'

Don't play golf (If you starting thinking "I'd really like to spend the entire day playing golf" and you start really believing that golf is a sport, ensure that there is someone there to beat you to death with a 5 iron or whatever the hell they call it.)

And don't shop for clothes at M&S or BHS.

What's more worrying for me is that my missus seems to think that i am turning into her Dad - which scares her a little.
