Just set a time limit for gaming/screentime. 30 minutes or whatever. When times up he turns it off.

Have a conversation with him about the importance of broadening horizons (in language he gets) and suggest things you can do together as well as things he can do independantly. Maybe a project for you to both work on? Decide together based on interests/ability/resources. Decide on time limit or number of games (apparently firnite eorks on games not time???), give him some say in this. Give warning 15 mins before time is up, then 5. Switch off and do something together. It's a start at least.
