Life after birth...

My girlfriend is 39 weeks pregnant now...I feel like my life's in limbo, just waiting and waiting for the baby to come along. I'm going to be glad when this whole pregnancy thing is over - not for my sake but because she's been incredibly uncomfortable and unhappy the last couple of weeks.
We've started a blog together to write about what it means when you go from being a carefree couple to parents. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment on the blog:

That's really funny! You certainly won't have any time for that when your little bundle of 'joy' arrives!!! ha ha ha!!!
I remember all my romantic thoughts about parenthood when I was pregnant! Certainly didn't expect the evil caesarian without enough anaesthetic and the months and months of post natal depression which quickly followed and the utter utter grief I felt for my single life and the business I gave up!!!
However that was 10 months ago and I love it now! Still miss my freedom but I am innately selfish so its a good life lesson for me!
Hope your first months aren't as shite as mine were!

Hi - thanks for the comments. The design is just a wordpress theme that I found somewhere and then adapted slightly. And I'm not the army type!

And we definitely will keep blogging after the baby gets here... Promise!

You might find you've got a few more important things to do!

Good point about the log Dr Daddy, don't forget to add that everytime you fall down you whack your head. That way the headache from the sleep deprivation feels the same!
Would not change my two kids for the world though.

Blogging would be a great way to get reluctant breastfeeders like me to sit down for long enough, actually. I found bfing so bloody boring that I kept detaching ds as soon as he showed the slightest sign of not being so hungry. No wonder the poor little thing lost weight.

Practice typing with one hand, though.

I'm confident that we'll be able to maintain the blog after the baby comes. My main worry is actually how much we need to be worried about privacy.

The questions I wonder about are:

Is it okay to use our child's real name, use pictures, etc?

Will our daughter be embarrassed or upset when she's old enough to discover that there are all these pictures of and writing about her out there in cyberspace?

What does everyone think?

I wouldn't use real names, I have to say. I'm not particularly worried about safety (maybe I should be but I'm not), but privacy is another matter. There's also the privacy of the people your child will encounter - family members, doctors, midwives, friends, neighbours, health visitors, other people's children. A blog is going to involve a LOT of details and it could be extremely easy to 'spot' you and people you know.

Pictures - I personally couldn't recognise any individual baby under 8 months from a picture, including my own - ds looks completely different now. The odd 'baby' picture is neither here nor there IMO, but there could be some more interesting ones - a pile showing all the cloth items laundered in one week? pictures showing the view from your child's buggy/pram? picture of something pretty that weighs the same as her at birth... oh i don't know. Would be amazed if you got that sort of thing done! but I'd agree you will probably manage the blog if you want to enough.
