I need some help please, I am looking to change my car but I'm unsure of what to get. I know what I want in the car but cant find one that has everything. I need to find a site or something that will help me search.
basicly I have a lexus IS 200 at at present, I am after something smaller. It has to be a hatchback, 5 doors ( that I can actually get ds in and out of!) 1.8 or bigger engine (Im a bit of a speed queen) and most extras, cd player, a/c, abs..... etc
I will be trading mine in so in the region of 8K and 53 plate +

Please help it is 'driving' me crazy!!

I'd suggest you find a reputable garage and go for a chat. Whereabouts are you, roughly?

email HonestJohn - he knows everything!

Lincolnshire, I have been to a few and they have been les than helpful. I dont know if its because Im a young lass but they keep on trying to sell me a corsa which I dont want. they wont listen to me.
I might see if I can take someone with me.

Dh was appalled at the way garage people spoke to me some months ago. He gave me a list of garages and asked me to ring them to get a quote for 2 tyres for our car. He wanted quotes for average brand tyres plus one for better tyres. I wrote down what they said and he reckoned that they'd never be so patronising to a bloke and a lot of what they said was rubbish. If you can take someone with you, that would be good. You don't live anywhere near me so I can't recommend any garages your way, sorry. Also, if you have a friend who is a good negotiator, take them with you for them to do the buying. Dh got our last car for £995 less than the price on the car (iirc) so don't take the listed price as gospel.

Hi Jodie

If I were you I would look at a VW Golf. Good reliable cars with a massive choice of engine sizes and extras. You cant go far wrong with a German car and these days their not as expensive to repair. If your a speed queen go for the GTI - otherwise the FSI is a really good bet.

Other than that an Audi - A bit more expensive but they really know how to make cars!

Good luck!

Thanks Jacobsdad, I had a gold before the lexus. It was a great car I never had any trouble with it. I like the new shape ones, but they are a bit too expensive.
I have been looking at the new astras, they look really funky and big inside. I need to take one for a test drive which is hard with ds at the moment.

Thanks for you advice
