World book day

Am I just being a moan ?
It's world book day on Thursday. My bhoys school informed us last week that it was themed. After a week of hunting for a Gruffalo costume for 4 days and numerous phone calls I eventually paid £31. Would not be better for the children to bring in their favourite book and or dress up as who they like.

Yup, there is another thread on here somewhere expressing that sentiment. It's World Book Day so let's all read a book, it's not World Fancy Dress day. Pain in the butt. Same goes for Xmas jumper day. Come dressed in your jumper and pay £1. One Mum pointed out that the money spend on buying the jumpers could go to the charity instead in the £1 and they all decorate old t shirts instead.
