Ultimate Father's Day gift?

Am hopping to do a little straw poll, hope that's okay..!

I find buying presents for most of the men in my life incredibly difficult - I'm sure I'm not the only one. DH is especially difficult - he likes rugby, cycling, running, food. As Father's Day approaches, I'm starting to wonder what to get him. We have an almost 2 year old DD. He doesn't appreciate sentimental personalised stuff that is all over notonthehighstreet.

So what would you all like?

The best father's day gift I ever had was a digital camera when our daughter was very small.

Nowadays, a re-issued or original record I loved years ago would be awesome. Or a piece of art for the hifi room.

Looking at his interests, how about a pasta maker (if you don't already have one), or a Japanese cooks knife. Parts for his bike - if he's anything like me, he'll have a mental list of all the bits he wants to upgrade...

Of course, in all honesty, the best gift would be the family doing something wonderful together - what that is of course varies wildly!!!

Same here, always find it difficult to buy for dh and df/ db.

Successes have been
Aged or a certain type of whiskey / crate of wine/ wine tasting days / specialist beer hampers

Hamper of his favourite food / drink + and picnic day out

Tickets to a band/ music gig he loves

Garmin / upgrade of garmin

Course of personal training / fitness training specific for his sport

Equipment for sport of choice - new trainers/ outdoor running/ cycling gear

Meal in nice restaurant for night out

Back pack/sports bag - specialist type with waterproofing etx

Last year I bought "My Dad" for DD and DH to read together - I feel I peaked too soon!

Well the ultimate gift would be a sports car....but I can't afford one so it'll be the fist thing on display as you walk through the door of sainsburys the week before. I know this because DH select mothers day and valentines gifts by this method.

I personally love father's day! Last year I got my Dad, who is rather partial to a port, a bottle of Taylor's White Port, which is like regular port but sweet and actually rather delicious. I've noticed a few other people have mentioned booze so that's always a safe bet! Got the port from a local craft booze store in Brighton.

I also got him a set of awesome Diamond shaped glasses, just because I really wanted to spoil him and I couldn't help myself. I got them from a gadget site, I went back today and they actually have an entire guide for Father's Day which made chuckle: www.red5.co.uk/fathers-day-gifts.aspx

DW says i'm hard to buy for but keep reminding her about my amazon wish list (several pages ).

DW though has made me a nice mouse mat and a calendar for my desk with pictures of us all.
