I'm a writer, writing from a young boy's POV and I grew up in an all-female household, have daughters, no dad blah blah so struggling a bit. Can you help me? I'm wanting to know at what age you started to go from 'ew- girlgerms!' to 'hmmm, girls, they look kinda nice, think I might want to start doing funny things to them with my bits!' y'know?

boy 2 "?"
boy 3 "yes why would you want girls following you round all the time"
boy 1 "I could live with that"
boy 4 "Moving swiftly on.. what's your favourite car?"
they are all 9 and 10

I was 12 when I had my first serious crush. It was probably a year or two prior to that that I started paying more attention to girls in general.

10, the first stirrings of confusion.... would be good in a story

I think at 9 or 10 I was aware that some girls were 'nice' and that kissing them might be ok. Doing funny with bits became an idea a few years later. Dreading my boys hitting that point.

I didn't really know what I was supposed to do with my bits until quite late, probably thirteen or fourteen. Before that it was all just intense curiosity from about the age of nine onwards.

Unless your story is set in the past it's fairly pointless asking adult males in the age range of this site's readership (say 30-60?), because today's boys are very, very different to previous generations in their approach to girls, eg sexting, viewing online porn etc.
