Wheel bearing question

Just had to abandon a trip to the supermarket when my front wheel started making awful graunching noises. I've driven home (very gingerly) but am worried that I've done more damage (I am only assuming it's the wheel bearing that's gone as there are ball bearings all over the drive now ) My main question is would it be safe to drive to the garage or should I get them to come & tow it? (don't want to get stung for unnecessary charges)

hmmm...I would get it towed...only cos my wheel bearing broke ( or whatever) at about 50mph and when it happened the car lurched to one side quite nastily...it was driveable after that (I called DH who did his knightinshiningarmour thing and drove it home for me) but not the best. Depends how far the garage is and on what sort of roads etc

thanks JessaJam. DH is away atm so can't do a knightinshiningarmour thing unfortunately. The garage is only a mile or so so I might risk a slow crawl

Sounds like a plan to me! Good luck!
