mad not a male but saw your post had gone unanswered so thought I would bump it

you on ads already or thinking about it (and worrying about the potential side effects?)

Anyway hope some dads pop along soon.

No experience of ADs but my DH has taken meds for stress, me too.

If your GP has prescribed ADs then they must think it's needed and will help. As long as you have a GP who listens. If no other dads come along to talk about this I would suggest you go back to GP and talk about any concerns you have about taking them.

Hella madas.
Took me a while to work out what ads meant. It's me age.
I have no idea about anti depressants. I have a friend who is on ads and I know if the dose isn't correct, it can do some pretty weird things.
Might pay to visit your doctor maybe or talk to a clinic. They might be able to help better than we can.

I took them for a couple of years and they really helped me get through some tough times. They are not a all in one solution though - think of them as a crutch to help you while you look further into whats causing the problem. Don't get yourself in a position where you can't see yourself coming off them.

I'm not male but have been on several different types of ads. Some work for one person but not the next so its really important to go to your doctor with any unwanted side effects, or if you don't feel your symptoms improving. You don't have to just live with it, there are lots of things they can try, tweaking the dose or trying a different medication. Definitely go if you feel worse. Good luck :)

I havent had any medication but was diagnosed with depression last year following split. I am fairly active so managed to cope by running and cycling. When I hit rockbottom (wont say anymore) I found out who my true friends were. I was also helped by my amazing daughter whose smile just made realise how lucky I was. Depression is horrible. People sometimes joke about it but its serious.
I hope youre doing well and beating it.
